Lifetime Partner: IQ or attitude?
Which do you value more in a lifetime partner/serious relationship: IQ or attitude? Can your choice eventually compensate for the other? How?
Personally I need and value a combination of both in my partner. I've tried being with guys who are more one than the other and it just doesn't seem to work for me because the balance is thrown off too much. Life can be exciting when with one with attitude but then it seems like they tend to get themselves into trouble a good bit because they don't think things through. And I highly value someone with a brain since I need one to keep up with mine but it nice to have the brain and a little attitude to go with it.
I also believe that anyone who chooses to want both and takes one without the other will end up very unhappy thinking the other will compensate over time. People believing they can be happy by settling or thinking they can change someone is the reason the divorce rates are so high.
My, what an interesting question. Hmm, I think a positive attitude supersedes a desirable IQ. I believe that an optimist has the power to elevate his lot in life through perspective and will. Oftentimes, an optimist is open to discovering and learning; also, I find him to be flexible and adaptable. A positive attitude is always a warm distraction when life behaves impishly. The optimist is the best person to call when you need to police a pity party. Because he promotes growth and progress, he is capable of building an enviable wealth of knowledge. Thus, in the end, IQ simply denotes two letters sitting idly next to each other.
